Ok, here are my thoughts, so far... (I only have Breaking Dawn to read yet, I've read the first three books.)

My first thought was, even while reading Twilight, is I have a problem with Bella (the narrator). I realize that this is written for minds much younger than my own, so it's simplified. I get that and that's fine. (But I've read all the Harry Potter books which is for an even younger set of minds and I don't have a problem with those.) She has no personality. I think she's a good person, I guess... but I don't really view her as having any redeeming qualities. There's no character developement with her at all. I just don't care about her, because she's not made a sympathetic creature in the slightest.

I have this problem with Edward as well. I'm supposed to want these two togehter, but I don't care. There's no character developement for him either. Except for maybe the fact that he's a vegetarian vampire and he's apparently beautiful (because I'm told he is every other page).

About the only fleshed out character of all the books is Jacob. I just adore him. But I don't feel he's enough to carry all the books, especially since he's barely in Twilight. Granted he plays a big role in New Moon and Eclipse, and I'm unsure what his role will be in Breaking Dawn. But he's the only character who's completely real. (Oh, with the exception of Alice. I love her too!!)

The other thing that bothers me a lot is the lack of plot in these books. The entire plot of each book lasts about 50 pages towards the end of the book with another 30 pages of nonsense after.

I know this will make me severely unpopular with most of my f-list at the moment, because everyone is crazy for these stories. It seems to be growing by leaps and bounds every day. And I don't quite understand that.

With all that said, I still feel completely compelled to keep reading. The books are easy reads, and I won't not read Breaking Dawn.
