Amy Acker - Fred One Day I'll Fly Away
So I haven't updated recently, nor kept up my promise to keep up with others. I'm sorry about that. But I do have good excuses...

First, I started suffering from my migraines in a big way. I thought it was connected to my time of the month as it usually gets worse around then, but these were not just that. I finally had to go to a doctor after missing 3 days of work. She put me on migraine medication called Imitrex which almost works. She had me rest for the next 2 days of that week to try to get rid of the migraine that wouldn't end.

Anyways, almost immediately after that, Donna had a dental emergency. I'm not sure how much she would like me to divulge here, but it was bad and very painful. She had to make about 3 trips to the dentist across the street. So then she was home for nearly a week as well.

On the day she was meant to go back to work, she called me in a panic about a minute after I walked into work for the day. She was hysterical saying something about the kitten being hurt, and her being hurt and there was blood. I immediately said I'm on my way back home. I asked a very good man at work to give me a ride home because my entire family appeared to be hurt, bleeding, dying, I'm not sure. I was freaking out, because from the short conversation on the phone I could hear both Carlson and Donna crying.

When I got home, Donna was sitting on the couch with the kitten asleep. Donna was only in a towel and she was still a bit weepy. Apparently what had happened was: While Donna was about to get in the shower, Kane and Carlson were chasing each other around the apartment. They had knocked something loose and made a terrible clatter on the way down, so much that Donna had heard it over the running water in the bath tub. The stuff the cats had knocked over turned out to be heavy bars from Donna's bed, and they had hit the kitten's nose on the way down. As Donna went in to her room to see to the damage of her stuff, she had the time to walk around the kitten, set the stuff to rights again, and stand back up again. At that point, the kitten started wailing in pain because the bars had hit him in the nose. He was bleeding, and this turned into a bad situation. She hurried the kitten into the bathroom to see if she could get the bleeding to stop. Meanwhile Kane is freaking out... don't know if it's from things happening so fast, or he doesn't understand what's going on, or he's scared, or he can smell the blood, or whether he thought Donna was hurting Carlson, he kind of flipped. As Donna tried to get to the living room to sit down and try to calm the kitten down and assess the damage. Kane lashed out at Donna's leg with claws and teeth.

When I got in, there was blood everywhere in Donna's room and the bathroom. Luckily the kitten and Donna were calm again. Since Carlson appeared to be napping, I saw to Donna's leg. Deep teeth marks were still bleeding and looked to me like they needed stitches. Meanwhile I started calling around to local vets to see if the kitten being hurt on the nose was a pressing emergency. Most didn't open until 9am, including Kane's and Carlson's doctor. Being 8:20am, we just tried staying calm and assure each other and Kane that everything would be okay. At about 9:10am and not hearing back from the vet's office, I called them again. They asked a whole bunch of questions of Donna and asked to see him at noon (the actual vet wasn't in until then).

So from then to about 11am, we kitty-proofed the apartment to make sure nothing heavy could fall or hurt them. We should have done so before the accident, but hindsight is always 20/20. Hopefully we diverted more emergencies.

We took the kitten to the vet who gave him some meds to keep him nourished and keep his nose clear of blood (as I'm sure there were clots and stuff in there).

All in all, everyone's okay now. I still think we should've taken Donna to get stitches as well, but she'll live. No more dental emergencies and no more catastrophies, God willing.

Anyways, early this week I got summoned into the Collections Supervisor at work. (I'm thinking I'm in trouble and whatever it is I didn't do it.) My Supervisor was already in there. They told me another collector was leaving this week (which I had heard in passing) and that they really like me. They're impressed with how well I handle one of the most difficult payors (also one of the top). I've got it managed within an inch of it's life. I know the moment something goes wrong, and I work on fixing it before it becomes even worse.

I've also got a few smaller payors that follow the same contract and have managed to get those under control. This includes a $90,000 account that we couldn't get paid on from July of last year. I somehow formed a relationship with a supervisor at that payor, and together we were able to get the account paid off without taken too much of a penalty. She was very good to us, considering it was our error that was preventing us from getting paid correctly. We had to take about a $5,000 penalty overall, but we got the other $85,000. It was due to the way I negotiated the penalty with her.

Anyways, my supervisor and his supervisor are very impressed with how I do things, and want to give me more. With the other collector leaving, they had to shuffle some responsibilities around. Therefore one woman was taking on the abandoned payor, and had to give up one of her other payors. I got that. Yesterday was my first day as the responsible person for this payor, and what a mess this woman handed over! I'm just absolutely appalled by the state of things, and it's probably going to take me at least 2 weeks to get it under control. Then there's the incredible job of maintaining both so they don't get out of control again. My God! It just makes me wonder what other people do all day. (I've been helping the woman who sits across the aisle from me as well. And she's very nearly caught up as well.) I told my supervisor that he had to watch out, I'd take over the entire office if I could and they let me.

It's really not a difficult job, once you know what you're doing. It doesn't require huge amounts of time or effort if you want to succeed in it. I happen to being one of those people who likes to do well in their job whether they like it or not. So I put in the effort and get the results. Yay!

Aside from that, we took the baby kitten to get fixed this week. He's doing well, and he seems to have forgiven us for doing it. So all seems to be well now. And hopefully it will remain so.

01. Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Friends, Sports Night, Girls Next Door, Rock of Love, Supernatural (except the newest one), Sex and the City, Will and Grace, Wonderfalls, Tru Calling - I think that's it.

02. Name a show you can't miss:
American Idol, House, Rock of Love (when it was on), Supernatural, Smallville, Don't Forget the Lyrics

03. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show:
That's hard to say. There are probably a bunch of them, but I can't name anyone in particular right now.

04. Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
Don't think I could name one at the moment, except maybe John Travolta. I just can't stand him.

05. Name a show you can, and do, quote from:
Supernatural, Prison Break, maybe Buffy and Angel

Rock of Love!! And Facts of Life if anyone remembers...

I'm gonna cheat a bit here. Kiefer Sutherland launched his career in movies, but he's incredible on 24. It's amazing how he can carry the tension for an entire season. He launched his career as a movie actor, but he's amazing on television as well. And I have to say Neil Patrick Harris. That guy can do anything! Act, Sing, Dance, Drama, Comedy - I'm sure he could perform brain surgery as well... I'm almost sure of it.

11. What is your favorite episode of your favorite series?:
My favorite series changes from time to time, it really depends on my mood. So I'll just name a few: Buffy - Once More With Feeling, CSI - Anatomy of a Lye or Scuba Doobie Doo, Angel - Smile Time, Friends - The One When No One is Ready, Rock of Love - Season 2 finale. There are tons more... just don't wanna sit here naming them all.

12. Name a show you keep meaning to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet:
Stargate, Crimianl Minds, Psych (besides the first ep... need to watch more!)

13. Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?:
Terminator is the only one I can think of at the moment.

Friends - the one with Joey and the air quotes.
